Daniel J. Blackburn is Central Coast News Agency's founder and editor, and producer of KCCN.tv.

Blackburn is responsible for CCNA's daily operation. He is a professional writer, journalist, author, and videographer, and co-founder and former co-editor of the San Luis Obispo-based news Websites, UncoveredSLO.com and CalCoastNews.com.

His best-selling book, "Human Harvest: The Sacramento Murder Story (Knightsbridge Publishers, New York, 1991) was a Doubleday and Mystery Book-of-the-Month selection.

Blackburn started his newspaper career at the Sacramento Union before becoming sports editor of the Roseville (CA) Press-Tribune. He was a staff reporter and capitol bureau chief for the Orange County Register.

Blackburn worked for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the world's largest water wholesaler, and lobbied in his capacity as executive director of the Association of State Water Project Agencies. Later, he was Senior Consultant to the California State Senate's Rules Committee, acting as press liaison for President pro Tempore Sen. James R. Mills.

When Mills retired, Blackburn and his wife formed a television production company and successfully produced award-winning sports documentaries, often working with country western star Hoyt Axton.

During this period, Blackburn also wrote for national and regional general circulation magazines, including New Times (a Sports Illustrated news publication), California, and New West. He also did a stint as editorial writer for the Sacramento Union.

Blackburn was the first regularly featured contributing writer for the political monthly, California Journal. He owned and operated California News Agency in Sacramento, providing government and legislative reporting for clients statewide.

He was news editor and managing editor of Easy Reader, a Hermosa Beach (CA) weekly newspaper (circ. 65,000) and news editor of New Times of San Luis Obispo (circ. 48,000), where his reporting won recognition from the California Newspaper Publishers' Association (CNPA).

Blackburn has written trade books for private entities on such varied subjects as city government and construction defects.
